About RaagEngine

RaagEngine was built out of frustration. The tools existed to generate AI music, but the bridge between musical knowledge and AI models did not.

Why We Built This

The first time we tried to generate Indian classical music using Suno, the result was a vague approximation that missed everything that makes a raga a raga — the specific ascending and descending phrases, the characteristic ornaments, the time-of-day associations that give each raga its emotional signature. We realised that no existing tool understood what we were trying to create.

The problem was not the AI music models. Suno and Udio are genuinely impressive technologies. The problem was the interface between human musical knowledge and the models. Writing "Indian classical music" in a text box produces something generic. Writing a precise prompt that specifies Raag Yaman's raised fourth degree, the appropriate tanpura drone, the slow expansive alaap structure, and the time-of-day context produces something that actually sounds like Yaman.

RaagEngine is that bridge. It contains the music theory knowledge — 35+ ragas across Hindustani and Carnatic traditions, 200+ instruments from 25+ global music cultures, the harmonic language of 15+ genre families — and it packages that knowledge into prompts that AI models can work with.

What We Stand For

Musical depth over simplicity. Most AI music tools optimise for the easiest possible path to an output. We optimise for the most musically accurate path to the output you actually want. There is a difference, and experienced musicians and producers notice it immediately.

Global music heritage. Western pop and hip hop are well-served by existing AI tools. The vast wealth of Indian classical, Persian, Turkish, Central Asian, East Asian, African, and Latin American musical traditions deserves the same quality of AI engagement. We are building toward that.

Creator economics. We believe creators should own the music they generate. Every feature in RaagEngine — from the DistroKid metadata generator to the YouTube SEO tools — is built to help creators monetise their AI music output and build sustainable businesses around it.

Who We Are

RaagEngine is an independent product built by a small team with deep roots in Indian classical music, music production, and software development. We are based across India and building for a global audience of music creators, content producers, and musicians who want to explore the frontier between human musical heritage and artificial intelligence.

We are not backed by major labels or large technology companies. We are a product built by musicians for creators, funded by our subscribers, and accountable to no one else.
